Hi Harper, thank you for having me on your blog today.

There is one word universally that perks most peoples’ ears, and no matter how much they fight the denial, they want to know more–secret. The idea of someone hiding something automatically makes you curious to know more. What could be so important that it needs to remain hidden? And it’s the concept that I play with in Cloaked in Fur. Too many secrets, especially when hidden from a loved one, can make things disastrous. Here’s a small snippet from chapter 1 of Cloaked in Fur dealing with such an issue.

Excerpt:

I love you so much.” He plucked a twig from my hair. “But I don’t want secrets between us.”

Something hitched in my throat. I’d told Connell so many lies to conceal my identity as a moonwulf, I had lost track of them. “What do you mean?”

Only the wind swept past. Connell’s gaze flickered around the place—everywhere but on me. “For over a week I’ve been calling you, and you never bothered to call back. Not even a text message to say you’re busy. Nothing.” He searched my face for an answer.

Then today I needed you for work, and you weren’t anywhere. This whole time I thought I was giving you space because you were going to be busy at work for a while, but what if something had happened to you? I would never forgive myself.”

A shudder ran through me and heat crawled through my chest. Had I really let days pass by without calling Connell? I was certain we’d spoken just yesterday. Or was it the day before? “I’m so sorry I didn’t call you right away. Time got away from me.”

He dug his hands into the pockets of his tailored pants. It was obvious they were fisted into knots. “All I ask is that you let me know you’re okay, where you are sometimes, and that you’re still alive.”

My response came pouring out. “Why do you need to know where I am all the time?”

That’s not what I mean.” He pinched the bridge of his nose. “Shit, Daci. I thought you wanted to be with me forever. I don’t get what’s been going on with you lately.”

I shook my head in disbelief. Everything I did was for Connell. For us. I’d never felt this way about anyone, and I was ready to leave my pack for him. Even if it was unheard of. That was why I needed the elixir. “Of course I want us to be together, and I love you.”

Are you sure?” His voice shook.

I can’t believe you just asked me that.”

The front door of the building creaked open, and an elderly woman with a bag on wheels shuffled outside. With pursed lips, she shook her head before hurrying down the street. Great, my whole neighborhood probably knew about my love life.

Connell glanced up to my apartment and back before loosening his tie from around his neck. “I know you haven’t been spending the nights at home.”

My breath quickened. “And you know this because . . . ”

I’ve driven past your place the last few nights, hoping to catch up with you. To see you. But you’re never home. Where do you go every night?” His incredulous stare pinned me on the spot, and right then I was certain my legs would give out.

Thank you, T.F. Walsh, for visiting today. If anyone still wants to know more about Cloaked in Fur, here are my thoughts after reading it:

My Goodreads Review:

I just finished reading Cloaked in Fur, and my head is still reeling. Daciana is a moonwulf on her way to becoming a full wulfkin. The problem is that she doesn’t want to be either. During her time living in the city, she falls in love with a human inspector named Connell. She is willing to risk it all and even desert her pack to be with him. With only a few days left before her transformation into a full wulfkin, Daciana is faced with many challenges—a killer hybrid wolf is killing off her friends, to the police, she is a suspect in the murders, and the relationship she has built with Connell is on the fence because of her need to keep secrets. There is also a past lover come back to rekindle their romance and an alpha who has absolutely lost his mind.

Cloaked in Fur is action-packed. From the very first chapter, I was engulfed in Daciana’s world of fierce werewolf creatures and all the ripping, snarling, and clawing that come with it. T.F. Walsh did an excellent job creating the two very different worlds, as well as the struggle Daciana has when choosing between them. I enjoyed the unexpectedness of the story. Romances are known to be in third person with both the male and female perspective. This story was in first person and only in Daciana’s voice. Also, usually the story tells how the relationship between the male and female starts, but here, Daciana and Connell’s relationship is already established, and we are watching it be tested. I appreciate and respect authors who challenge writing conventions and do something different. The new take on werewolves and the Romania setting is refreshing and new. I do wish the wulf lore was explained more in the beginning of the story because it did get a bit confusing. Also, I did want to see more about the super wulfkin and its powers. It came at such a climatic part and was such an interesting concept, I wanted it to be included more in the final scenes. Maybe it will be included in the following book—all the more reason to keep following this author.

If you like romances with action, suspense, and wolf shifters, I highly recommend reading Cloaked in Fur by T.F. Walsh. It will be nothing you expect but everything you need. You won’t be able to put it down once you’ve started.
