Halloween Seduction Blog Hop
WELCOME TO MY STOP ON
THE HALLOWEEN SEDUCTION GIVEAWAY HOP!
Welcome to my blog! I am a paranormal and historical romance author, so Halloween is right up my alley! I want to talk about vampires today. Why? They’re EVERYWHERE! Books, movies, TV shows, songs. Want to sex-up your story? Add a vampire. That seems to be the trend. And their fans are everywhere, so why not? Hell, I’m guilty of this too.
Even though vamps are everywhere, writers/producers/creative thinkers seem to want to try something different with their versions. In the movie Underworld, we have black leather, icy-blue eyes, and an organized society. In Charlaine Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse series (or True Blood for those diehard TV series fans), we have vampires with southern drawls, fangs in the front teeth, the ability to run like The Flash, and synthetic blood. And in Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight saga, we have–well–teenagers, no fangs, vegetarians vamps, select powers, and sparkly skin.
The list goes on and on. Anne Rice–sophisticated vamps with feelings. Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter series–badass protectors of the night mixed with Greek mythology. Okay, I can go on forever. You get the point. Since vampires are done so much, giving them different attributes is a way to keep people interested.
Remember before when I said I was guilty in this too? Well, my debut paranormal romance, His Haven (Redemption Series, Book 1), also has vampires. And yes, I tried to change it up too, but I went more of the Anne Rice route. My vampires are set in Victorian England (when the vampire lore exploded), and when their adrenaline spikes–whether from anger, hunger, or the chase–their eyes are engulfed by blackness. No irises, no whites. The pupils swallow the entire eye in black. Their fangs also descend. They are hidden in their gums otherwise. The older a vampire is, the less in touch with humanity he is (makes sense, right?). My main male in His Haven, Avrum Brenin, was turned about a year ago, so he is more “human” than say his friend, Lysander Douay, who was turned at the beginning of the 17th century. Avurm makes mistakes, he is compassionate, and he is eager to do the right thing. Most of all, he is determined to not become a monster, vampire or not.
How to kill them? Sun, decapitation, or destroy the heart. Not just a stake through. Eating? They can eat normal food. That satisfies their human side, their bodily needs. But blood is needed for their immortal side. It is a separate craving and need. Older vampires can go a while without human food because they are losing that part of them. Younger vampires need both more often.
Hopefully, I have you interested now!
HIS HAVEN
The Redemption Series: Book 1
Ignorance isn’t always bliss…
Handsome and diligent Avrum Brenin should have died in the fire with his mother and older brother. Instead, he is saved by the powerful and wealthy immortal, Lord Henri. Placed under his care, Avrum shares in his world of endless splendors. He must do one thing in return—look after Haven, a human and Lord Henri’s newest rescue.
The simple task proves to be more complicated than it seems. Haven is disobedient, ungrateful, and hostile, yet she is beautiful and mystifying at the same time. One night, when Avrum stumbles across Haven barely clothed and bound at the wrists, the world he has trusted in unravels before his eyes. He soon discovers that no one—from Lord Henri and Haven to his closest friend, Lysander—are who they seem to be.
Now faced with the truth, will Avrum choose to surrender to the man who rescued him, or will he have the courage to save the woman who captivated him?

Honestly, I don’t have a favorite type, except to say I like the ones who can kick some butt without blinking an eye but who love with all their un-beating heart.. I love all the popular series(Midnight Breeds, Night Huntress, Southern Vampire Series, etc.) but I love them because they’re each different and unique in their own right. I’ve never been too into Anne Rice’s, just because hers are too dark for my tastes. They seem to lose the romantic and human qualities I look for in vampire books. I’m always looking for something different though. Recently I discovered Renea Mason’s “Symphony of Light and Winter” and immediately fell in love. It was different. Now, thanks to this blog hop, I’ve discovered you, so I’ll have to check your books out as well!! ♥ ~Robin (tweetyiniowa at yahoo dot com)

Cool one..
I really liked Drusilla in Buffy. Not so much her wimpy self earlier in the show, but the way she looked. Good taste 🙂 I also really liked Claire Miller in the Warm Delicacy series. Still seems very human, except she needs blood. And in that world, they prep blood dishes. Sometimes it’s straight blood in glasses or from the source, other times, they throw in herbs and such. Kinda cool.
Don’t have a fav kind of vampire; don’t know what other kinds there are

I love them all, they all have something about them that makes me love them so. If they were all the same I would be bored. But then I have loved vampires since before I could say the word. Happy Halloween! Thanks for sharing the hop and the giveaway. evamillien at gmail dot com

First ones, I ever read about were the Anne Rice vampires, enjoyed reading the Sookie books, and watching True Blood, but I think my favorite are the ones I encountered first.

My favorite type of vampires are the protective and loyal ones because they show their chosen lady just how special they are.

I like most all vampires, but I think one of my favorites would have to be the Carpathians from Christine Feehan’s Dark series .
